Basic Information
Corduroy is generally made of cotton as the main raw material, and it is also blended or interwoven with polyester, acrylic, spandex and other fibers. Corduroy is a fabric with longitudinal velvet formed on the surface, which is cut weft fleece and consists of two parts: velvet tissue and ground tissue. After processing such as cutting and brushing, the surface of the fabric presents a wick-shaped and obviously raised pile, hence the name. In the 1950s and 1960s, it belonged to high-end fabrics, and it was generally not the fabric ticket allocated at that time. Corduroy is also called corduroy, corduroy, and velvet.

The corduroy weave adopts a weft double weave in which two sets of weft yarns and one set of warp yarns are interwoven, and the ground weaves include plain weave and twill weave. Corduroy is woven from one set of warp yarns and two sets of weft yarns, one set of weft yarns (called ground weft) interweaves with warp yarns to form a ground fabric with consolidated fluff, and the other set of weft yarns (called pile weft) interweaves with warp yarns to form a regular floating pattern. Corduroy is a high weft density fabric with a warp tightness of 35%-65% and a weft tightness of 110%-200%. The arrangement ratio of ground weft and cashmere weft is 1:2, 1:3.

performance
Corduroy fabric feels elastic and soft, clear and round velvet, soft and even luster, thick and wear-resistant, but it is easy to tear, especially the tear strength along the velvet direction is low.
During the wearing process of the corduroy fabric, its fluff part is in contact with the outside world, especially the elbows, necklines, cuffs, knees and other parts of the clothing are subject to external friction for a long time, and the fluff is easy to fall off.
The American Standard "Test Method for Fluff Retention of Corduroy Fabrics (ASTM D4685-87)" stipulates the rubbing treatment procedure of corduroy fabric samples, and the instruments and methods for evaluating the retention of fluff. But the main problem is that the evaluation of corduroy fluff retention performance level must be carried out by 3 inspectors with reference to the standard, and the subjective factors of the inspectors will affect the accuracy of the evaluation results. The inspection basis for the export of pure cotton corduroy in my country is "Inspection Regulations for Natural Color Corduroy Cut Flannel Fabric (SN/TO312-94)", and the inspection basis for export pure cotton corduroy is "Inspection Regulations for Cotton Printing and Dyeing Corduroy (GB/T14311-93)" , and the above two standards do not provide for the detection of corduroy fluff retention performance. After investigation, in the relevant standards of other countries, there is no description of the test method for the retention performance of corduroy fluff.
According to the thickness of the velvet strips, it can be divided into extra-thin strips (more than 19 strips/2.54cm), thin strips (15-19 strips/2.54cm), medium strips (9-14 strips/2.54cm), thick strips (6-8 strips) /2.54cm), wide strips (less than 6 strips/2.54cm), and interstripes (thick and thin) corduroy, etc., generally thick corduroy is used for strands in the warp direction, and single yarn for the weft direction; medium corduroy is used in the warp and weft direction All use single yarn; thin corduroy can be used as single yarn or strands.
